Cómo crear un plato de cerámica avanzado de pared doble (donut) en torno alfarero

Step-by-step guide: How to throw a double-walled donut-style ceramic plate on the potter’s wheel

Today we’re going to go step by step through an advanced example of how to throw a complex ceramic plate.

We’ve chosen a stoneware clay body.

As always, we cut off a lump of clay and weigh it.

Remember that you should always weigh it, as this helps you adjust the size in later iterations or when you need to repeat specific pieces from an order.

Now comes the most difficult part. We’re going to show the entire process of making the plate with its double wall in one continuous video, with no cuts, so you can see every step of the procedure in detail:

As you can see in the background, our old little dog “Jojo” got pretty bored, and by the time the video finished she was already snoring…

Then we flip the piece over and refine the details. First by trimming near the foot:

and then the foot itself:

We do some cut-out work on the walls to give the piece a different, personal touch:

and voilà!

We’re not going to show the glazing process here, because it’s the same as in other pieces we’ve already shown:
