Solid Triangular Carbide Blade for Precise Clay Trimming
Introducing DELTA, our new pottery trimming tool featuring a solid triangular tungsten carbide blade.
At The Artisan Tools, we're proud of this design, which has taken us over a year to develop. After several changes to the blade geometry, we believe you'll love the final result. DELTA features a solid, one-piece tungsten carbide blade, without the hollow centre found in many traditional loop trimming tools.
Its triangular geometry and the exceptional wear resistance of tungsten carbide make DELTA an excellent alternative to conventional steel pottery trimming tools, designed for potters who value precision and durability. We've also added our signature copper-coloured tAt wear-resistant coating, helping the cutting edges stay sharp for even longer.
A Solid Triangular Blade, Refined for Pottery Trimming
Many of you have been asking for this blade geometry, which was missing from our collection of pottery trimming tools.
We started developing DELTA last year, initially experimenting with a larger blade, different cutting edges and various angles. Through extensive testing, comparing our own prototypes with each other and with other trimming tools on the market, we've continuously refined the design until reaching this final version.
The result is a slightly smaller triangular blade, with sharper cutting edges and more versatile angles, designed to work with a wide variety of clay bodies.

Why Choose a Tungsten Carbide Trimming Tool Over a Steel One?
If you're already familiar with our other pottery tools, you'll know the benefits of tungsten carbide and our protective coating. Here's a quick reminder of the advantages, along with a few things to keep in mind compared with conventional steel tools.
Tungsten carbide is known for its exceptional hardness and wear resistance, far superior to conventional steel. This allows the blade to maintain its cutting performance for much longer, even when working with abrasive clay bodies, including those containing grog.
A sharp, well-maintained cutting edge allows for more consistent and precise clay trimming, reducing the need for frequent sharpening or tool replacement.
However, there's one important thing to remember: although tungsten carbide is extremely hard, it is also more brittle than steel when subjected to impacts or drops. We therefore recommend handling these tools with care and avoiding contact with hard surfaces, as impacts may chip or fracture the cutting edge.
Care and Safety Precautions
Warning: DELTA has extremely sharp cutting edges that may cause cuts. Always handle the tool carefully and avoid direct contact with the cutting edges.
Store the tool safely and keep it out of reach of children.
